Despite shock Marouane Fellaini links, Liverpool should target Lazio’s Sergej Milinkovic-Savic

In one of the season’s most bizarre transfer rumours, Manchester United midfielder Marouane Fellaini was linked by French newspaper with a shock end-of-contract move to Liverpool this week.

In what surely should have come ꦦto the relief of Reds supporters, it later emerged꧂ that these links were , with Monaco, Paris Saint Germain, and Besiktas more suitable destinations for the Belgian midfielder.

Liv𝓰erpool must be looking for players of a higher quality than the likes of Fe𒁃llaini if they want to mount a sustainable title challenge next season.

The Belgian midfielder soon turns 31 years of age, and has seen his productivity dwindle over recent seasons. Due to n𝓰umerous injuries, he has only featured 13 times in the Premier League this season, completing the full 90 minutes on just three occasions.

Ever since swapping Goodison Park for Old Trafford,🙈 the midfielder has struggled to find the rampant attacking form he enjoyed while at Everton. Partly due to a dip in form and being played out of position, Fellaini’s time at United is better known for misplaced touches and wayward passes than driving runs and emphatic finishes.

These aꦇttributes make ꦅLiverpool’s supposed targeting of the Belgian even the more puzzling.

With Emre Can set to depart in the summer, the Reds would be far better off targeting Sergej Milinkovic-🐭Savic, Lazio’s 23-year-old central midfielder, who is enjoying a stellar season and is a perfect long-term replacement fo🥀r the German.

Milinkovic-Savic is a goal-scoring threat who possesses a wicked long shot, along with mesmerising dribbl🌸ing skills. He is also extremely strong in the air and provides a solid defensive cog in front of the backline.

Instead of a laughable pursuit of Manchester United’s unwanted Belgian midfie꧒lder, Li♍verpool should set their sights on the young Serbian midfielder – a move that would be perfect for the Reds.
