Why Fulham’s wingers will be delighted by Claudio Ranieri’s new system

When a new manager takes over at a club, fringe players are often given a second chance to impress — and Claudio Ranieri’s young reign at Fulham is no different.

And to the delight of Neeskens Kebano, Floyd Ayite, and Aboubakar Kamara, Ranieri’s new system appears primed to grant more opportunities to the previously sparingly-used attackers.

In Fulham’s weekend loss to Chelsea, all three of the aforementioned players came off the bench at Stamford Bridge and influenced the match in key areas.

Kamara’s introduction at halftime added a direct threat on Fulham’s right wing, with the Frenchman bullying Marcos Alonso and combining well with Cyrus Christie on a number of occasions.

Ayite was less impactful yet still looked bright in glimpses, but the best sign for Fulham fans was the introduction of Neeskens Kebano for his Premier League debut.

Although the Congolese international only had a limited cameo appearance, Ranieri’s faith in the winger will boost Kebano’s confidence and cement his role as a super sub.

Under Slavisa Jokanovic, these Fulham attackers who helped the club get promoted saw their options largely limited. But with Claudio Ranieri’s emphasis on pacy wide players, Aboubakar Kamara, Floyd Ayite, and Neeskens Kebano will all see more playing time.
