Why Crystal Palace moved on from El Hadji Malick Diouf to Ben Chilwell
TBR Football have now received information regarding why Crystal Palace moved on from El Hadji Malick Diouf to Ben Chilwell.
Chilwell is having a medical at Crystal Palace ahead of a loan move from Chelsea – which became possible after the Blues recalled Trevoh Chalobah from Selhurst Park.
However, the England international has been available for the entire winter transfer window after being exiled by Enzo Maresca, and seeing as Crystal Palace bid for El Hadji Malick Diouf of Slavia Prague – who also plays on the left of defence – it feels as if the Chelsea No.21 was not the No.1 choice.
Now, sources have informed TBR Football about what happened between Crystal Palace and El Hadji Malick Diouf as Ben Chilwell prepares to arrive in SE25.
El Hadji Malick Diouf was not keen to join Crystal Palace
Graeme Bailey – Chief Correspondent at TBR Football – has now been told the Senegal international was unwilling to leave Slavia Prague during the middle of the campaign, and prefers to wait until the summer to assess his future.
We understand Diouf did not directly reject Crystal Palace alone – but every side who made an approach for his signature – as the Slavia Prague No.12 opted not to push for a move.
This information ties in with what the 20-year-old recently told IDNES about his desire for playing time, in an interview which made it sound as if the left-back did not want to see his development disturbed.

Diouf said: “I can see what is happening around me, but I am definitely not distracted by it. I am concentrating on myself, on Slavia, I have no reason to rush. I told my uncle, my agent, the same thing. He knows everything, and I know that one day I will take the next step. That day is approaching, but I have to be convinced it is happening at the ideal moment so as not to slow down my development.
“I don’t know if that is true (about Liverpool). Yes, it sounds nice, but would I play for Liverpool? Would I fit in there? For me, it is essential that I don’t stop. It is difficult to move from the substitute bench. I need to play.”
Ben Chilwell to Crystal Palace is simply a dry loan
Chilwell will be joining Crystal Palace on a straight six-month loan.
The goal that got us started! 👌

And 's first for us too!
TBR Football understand no option or obligation to buy the £50m man permanently has been included in the deal, although Crystal Palace can – of course – explore a permanent move this summer once the loan ends.
