Why Crystal Palace have the edge in the race for Liverpool’s Dominic Solanke

According to reports in the , Crystal Palace are leading the race to sign highly-rated Liverpool striker Dominic Solanke on loan.

The Eagles are edging out numerous other Premier League clubs, including rivals Brighton and Hove Albion, due to Roy Hodgson’s commitment to playing with two strikers.

The Guardian report says along with Palace and Brighton, Huddersfield and Fulham also expressed interest in Solanke.

Yet between the two rival frontrunners, Brighton’s insistence on favouring a solitary striker — usually Glenn Murray or Florin Andone — dissuaded the England youth international from joining the Seagulls.

If Solanke chooses to spend the second half of the campaign on loan at Selhurst Park, then Palace would be enjoying the services of a promising talent who is eager for consistent Premier League football.

While at Anfield, the striker has found opportunities hard to come by amid the Reds’ star-studded attack, yet Solanke could flourish playing alongside Wilfried Zaha at Crystal Palace.

Palace supporters will be delighted at their excellent position to land Dominic Solanke, not just for the goal threat the forward offers, but also for beating out hated Brighton and Hove Albion to the coveted youngster.
