Why Celtic have got to be on red alert, as Tottenham make decision on Danny Rose’s future – TBR View
It came as little surprise. Danny Rose has not featured once for Tottenham Hotspur this season and the player will now leave North London on a free transfer. But he remains an excellent option at left-back, and Celtic have got to consider an ambitious move to lure him north of the border this summer.
Rose, 30, is out of contract at Spurs this summer and having been ousted by Jose Mourinho – he has never recovered. We all watched his conversations with the Portuguese gaffer during Amazon Prime’s documentary. A loan to Newcastle was beneficial, but he remained at Spurs last summer.
Now, – with goalkeeper Paulo Gazzaniga also departing. It is interesting to see where Rose could end up, given that he is still particularly young and a move to the MLS, China or the Middle East is probably going to come too soon.

Why Celtic and Rose are a match made in heaven
Rose needs to rejuvenate his career. Brendan Rodgers is a prime example of a Premier League stalwart moving north of the border and re-invigorate their careers. Rodgers has since starred as Leicester boss, attracting interest from Tottenham. Rose can do the same.
Celtic, meanwhile, need additions all over the pitch and left-back is no different. Diego Laxalt will return to Milan this summer and Greg Taylor is struggling for consistency. It is an important area that requires strengthening, hence the decision to sign Laxalt on loan last summer.
Celtic have – truthfully – failed to replace Kieran Tierney since he joined Arsenal in 2019. The Hoops need a goalkeeper, right-back, centre-backs, wingers, midfielders and probably a striker if Odsonne Edouard goes – but a left-back is just as crucial. Rose and Celtic can be perfect for each other.
