Why Caoimhin Kelleher may already regret leaving Liverpool after latest Thomas Frank update
Caoimhin Kelleher completed his move to Brentford from Liverpool earlier this month, signing a five-year deal with the club.
Kelleher made the switch to the Bees for around £12.5m, with add-ons which could take the deal to £18 million.
Kelleher, who was not a regular at Liverpool, opted to join Brentford in pursuit of regular playing time and the opportunity to become the club’s first-choice goalkeeper.
A key factor in his decision was manager Thomas Frank, a decision the 26-year-old goalkeeper may now be regretting.

What Caoimhin Kelleher said about Thomas Frank after joining Brentford
Upon joining the Bees, Kelleher revealed that his discussion with the Brentford manager was instrumental in his decision to leave Anfield for the London club.
The goalkeeper was particularly impressed by the way Frank and his coaching team approached their discussions, particularly how they outlined their plans for his development.
Kelleher valued the clear vision they had for how they could help him grow as a player, which gave him confidence that Brentford would be the right place for him to continue his career.
Speaking to the club’s media, Kelleher said: “I came down to meet the manager and some of the coaches.
“They spoke to me about why they wanted me to be here and showed me around the training ground.
“It was interesting to see their point of view on why they wanted to sign me and how they think they can develop my game. It was impressive and I think the club’s a really good fit for me.
“I like the way the manager and the coaching staff go about their ways. It seems like a really close, tight knit, family club. They’ve got a really good track record of improving and developing players which is really what’s drawn me to the club.”
Tottenham close to appointing Thomas Frank
Frank is now on the verge of becoming Tottenham’s new manager, following the sacking of Ange Postecoglou, just 16 days after he guided the club to their first trophy in 17 years.
Spurs have made Frank their top target, and talks are progressing quickly. Brentford are reportedly demanding £10 million in compensation, as Frank is under contract until 2027.
While this would be a significant career move for Frank, it could leave Kelleher feeling unsettled, as he chose Brentford largely due to his belief in Frank’s vision and the direction of the club’s project.
With Bryan Mbeumo also close to leaving Brentford, the project is suddenly facing major uncertainty.
Kelleher’s first season could prove far more challenging than he expected, with questions now hanging over who will replace Frank and whether the Bees can maintain stability heading into the new season.
