Who was your Man-of-the-match in Leicester’s 3-1 victory against Liverpool?
Leicester City faced Liverpool in their first game after the sacking of Claudio Ranieri. The Foxes had undergone a week of intense scrutiny but were fully focused on taking their first three points of 2017 at the King Power Stadium.
Craig Shakespeare lined up his side almost identically to the one that won the title last season, only N’Golo Kante’s absence, due to his transfer to Chelsea, was different.
The Foxes started brightly as Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool side stuttered. Jamie Vardy’s opener, a smashing finish into the bottom corner after being sent through one on one with Simon Mignolet, was followed by a wonder strike from Danny Drinkwater to put the Champions 2-0 up.
Vardy scored again after the break as Jurgen Klopp’s half-time team talk did very little to inspire Liverpool. However, a Philippe Coutinho goal did bring the Reds to life but it all came to little to late as Shakespeare brought on Daniel Amartey for Shinji Okazaki to ensure the win.
Leicester picked up their first win of 2017 and will now be looking ahead to ensure their survival, but first, who was your man of the match in Leicester’s 3-1 win against Liverpool?
