Who Liverpool could now sign after landing Jeremie Frimpong, talks expected to ‘accelerate very soon’
Liverpool have made their first signing of the summer transfer window, bringing Jeremie Frimpong to Anfield from Bayer Leverkusen.
With Trent Alexander-Arnold set to leave Liverpool early so he can join Real Madrid in June, the Reds have quickly moved for his replacement.
Liverpool have now signed Frimpong, reportedly paying Leverkusen €35million (£29.5million) to sign the Netherlands international on a five-year contract.
However, the Reds are only just getting started, with discussions over two more players currently taking place.
Fabrizio Romano has now claimed that talks over one of Liverpool’s other transfer targets are set to “accelerate very soon”.

Liverpool deal for Milos Kerkez tipped to ‘accelerate very soon’
Liverpool are currently in talks over Florian Wirtz and, while they’re progressing, Romano suggested that they could take some time.
However, he claimed that Liverpool’s talks with Bournemouth over Milos Kerkez could soon pick up pace, suggesting he could be next through the Anfield doors.
“Liverpool remain busy with Milos Kerkez, a player they want to sign,” Romano said on his YouTube channel.
“Agreement with the player, negotiation ongoing with Bournemouth – I expect this deal to accelerate very soon.
“And also Liverpool are accelerating for Florian Wirtz…. I remain optimistic (but) I want Liverpool fans to be calm.
“Okay, it’s taking some time, but it’s still a big negotiation for a club-record deal.”
The Liverpool player Milos Kerkez said was one of his heroes growing up
Kerkez has been one of the Premier League’s best left-backs this season and, as such, he would be a great shout for Liverpool.
Andrew Robertson and Kostas Tsimikas both face uncertain futures at Anfield, and the club could certainly do with an upgrade on both.
Coincidentally, Kerkez – who Troy Deeney has called “exceptional” – could soon find himself taking the spot of one of his Premier League idols.
Kerkez was recently a guest on the Premier League show Uncut on their official YouTube channel, and he was asked who was his Premier League idol growing up.
Kerkez gave three names – Manchester United legend Cristiano Ronaldo, Chelsea icon Ashley Cole, and Liverpool’s very own Robbo.
“Obviously I would take Cristiano Ronaldo back in the days at Man United,” began Kerkez.
“I could put Ashley Cole there, a left-back also, from Chelsea, I liked a lot… and also Andy Robertson.”
