Which position Archie Gray is now expected to play in after impressing Ange Postecoglou in Tottenham training
Archie Gray is already making a fine name for himself at Tottenham Hotspur.
The youngster joined Spurs from Championship side Leeds United earlier in July. The North Londoners beat several top Premier League clubs for his signature.
Gray has been training under Ange Postecoglou and even featured in the friendly against Cambridge United last week, a game Spurs won 7-2.
The North Londoners take on Hearts in another friendly on Wednesday night, and Gray is expected to start for Tottenham.
The position Ange Postecoglou sees Archie Gray playing in at Tottenham
Gray is one of the finest young talents in England.
The new Tottenham signing, still only 18 years old, possesses all the qualities you would want in a midfielder. He showed his class for Leeds United in the 2023/24 season.
Gray played 52 games for Leeds in all competitions, and although he is unlikely to get as much game time in his debut season at Spurs, we’re sure he will get plenty of minutes.
One question on many Tottenham fans’ minds is where Gray will play at Tottenham.
The teenager is naturally a central midfielder, but the majority of his appearances for Leeds United in the 2023/24 season came at right-back.
Postecoglou used him at right-back too in the second half of the game against Cambridge United.
However, reveal that ‘Gray’s future is expected to lie in the heart of midfield’, even though he is more than capable of filling in as a full-back.
The youngster’s versatility, however, will surely be of use to Tottenham at some point next season.
How Gray has fared in Tottenham training
Gray has only been at Tottenham for a little over two weeks now.
It’s never easy for a young player to join a new club and feel comfortable from the start, but it looks like Gray has been having a lovely time in North London.
The report has claimed that Tottenham coaches have been impressed by Gray’s efforts in training in his first couple of weeks at the club.
Alasdair Gold revealed that all the people he has spoken to at Tottenham tell him that Gray is ‘very talented’ and is a player who possesses a ‘quick-thinking brain in the matches’.
Tottenham fans should be really excited to see what Gray can produce for them in the coming years. He has the potential to become a real star.
