Alan Shearer delivers his verdict on Newcastle’s Anthony Gordon after his England performance v Ireland

Anthony Gordon was handed a start by Lee Carsley for England this weekend against Ireland and Alan Shearer has given his verdict on the performance.

Gordon was very outspoken in the build up to the game and insisted that England’🍒s Euros effort was a failure in the end.

Of cou꧋rse, Gordon was among 𒊎a cluster of players in that England squad to play just a handful of minutes and ultimately, end up frustrated.

But Gordon, w🅰ho was used heavily by new interim boss Lee Carsley at under-21 level, was thrust straight in against the Irish and in the main, did well.

And speaking about Gordon’s pre-match comments and his overall performance, Newcastle legend Alan Shearer felt that the winger lived up to the hype.

Speaking on the latest episode of , Shearer was asked how he felt Gordon had gone about his busineꦓss with England.

And bringing up G💝o🌺rdon’s pre-match comments, Shearer believes the Newcastle winger did indeed deliver.

“Anthony Gordon, I thought, he was really positive in what he said before the game,” Shearer s🔜aid.

“When you say what he did, when you are as positive as he is, then you have got to go out and perform, and I thought he performed really well. I thought he gave 🅘us great energy on that left-hand side.”
