When Micky van de Ven is likely to return for Tottenham as important update shared
Tottenham Hotspur are in a desperate situation at the moment.
Indeed, Tottenham are sitting 15th in the Premier League at the moment, and they’re in the middle of a truly remarkable injury crisis.
Injured Tottenham players | Injury |
Guglielmo Vicario | Foot injury |
Dominic Solanke | Knee injury |
Brennan Johnson | Calf injury |
Micky van de Ven | Hamstring injury |
Cristian Romero | Thigh injury |
Wilson Odobert | Hamstring injury |
Rodrigo Bentancur | Head injury |
Destiny Udogie | Hamstring injury |
Timo Werner | Hamstring injury |
Spurs’ injury crisis is an absolute horror show at the moment, and while Ange Postecoglou has been criticised recently, Spurs’ injuries have certainly contributed to their poor results.
However, there could be some hope on the horizon.
Indeed, speaking on Last Word on Spurs, Dharmesh Sheth has shared a positive update on Spurs’ injuries, claiming that Micky van de Ven and Cristian Romero are likely to be back sooner rather than later.
Romero was pictured back in training this week, and Van de Ven shouldn’t be too far behind him.

Micky van de Ven back for Tottenham soon
Sheth shared what he’s been told about Van de Ven and his return from injury.
The journalist claims that he’s heard that both Van de Ven and Romero are likely to return from injury sooner rather than later.
Van de Ven was rushed back from his injury too soon last time, and Spurs will try to avoid making the same mistake again here.
“Ben Davies has just come back, Romero and Van de Ven are likely to come back sooner rather than later now, we’re told,” Sheth said.
“Archie Gray has shown that he can play there, even though I’m sure Tottenham fans and yourselves would want him playing in his preferred position. So, numbers wise, I don’t think that that’s the top of the list for Tottenham in this window, but I think a forward player is, and it’s been accentuated now because of that injury to Solanke.”
Tottenham’s record with and without Van de Ven
This could be a gamechanging return from injury for Spurs.
Indeed, sometimes, a club has a player that is so vital that results are heavily affected when they don’t play.
Arsenal struggled without Martin Odegaard earlier this season, and Van de Ven is a player capable of having a similar impact for Tottenham.
Indeed, the stats show that Spurs are a much better team when Van de Ven plays.
Tottenham record with Micky van de Ven | Tottenham record without Micky van de Ven | |
Games | 36 | 24 |
Wins | 19 | 8 |
Draws | 6 | 3 |
Losses | 11 | 13 |
Points per game | 1.75 | 1.1 |
Van de Ven’s main attribute is his pace, and that allows Ange Postecoglou’s system to work that much more effectively as Spurs play a high line that often needs someone sprinting back to make a last-ditch defensive tackle.
Tottenham have been in terrible form as of late, losing five of their last six league games.
That run needs to end, and Van de Ven’s return would be a welcomed boost.
Van de Ven is so important to Tottenham, and, luckily, he could be back in action in the near future.
