When Liverpool are expecting Florian Wirtz to arrive as medical planned to seal £126m deal
TBR Football can exclusively reveal that talks between Liverpool and Bayer Leverkusen for the transfer of Florian Wirtz have progressed.
The Germany international is Liverpool’s top target this summer, and the Reds are prepared to pay big money to get the deal over the line.
Liverpool tabled an opening offer of £109 million, including add-ons, to sign Wirtz, but that didn’t do the trick.
Now, TBR can confirm that a new package has been proposed, and talks are heading in the right direction.
When Liverpool are expecting Florian Wirtz to arrive for his medical
TBR Football’s chief correspondent, Graeme Bailey, understands that Liverpool are closing in on a deal to sign Florian Wirtz from Bayer Leverkusen.
The Reds have been locked in talks with the Bundesliga side for over a week now, and they have been pushing to get the deal done.
TBR can confirm via sources with knowledge of the situation that talks have progressed between Leverkusen and Liverpool on the overall deal.
As it stands, Arne Slot’s side have suggested an offer of an initial £100 million plus a further £13 million in potential add-ons.
German sources have informed TBR that they believe this also includes bonus payments that would mean the deal comes close to £126 million (€150m).
We can reveal now that plans are in place for Wirtz to undergo his Liverpool medical once he has finished his international commitments with Germany on Sunday.
The expectation from Liverpool’s side is that Wirtz will be on Merseyside by Monday, June 7th. His personal terms in principle are also already in place.

Where would Florian Wirtz to Liverpool deal rank among the most expensive transfers of all time?
It’s not done yet, but all signs point towards Wirtz completing his move to Liverpool in the coming days.
If the deal is struck at £126 million, the German will become the most expensive signing in English football history, but there are three players who have cost even more elsewhere on the continent.
Player | Transfer from | Transfer to | Fee |
Neymar | Barcelona | Paris Saint-Germain | £200m |
Kylian Mbappe | Monaco | Paris Saint-Germain | £166m |
Philippe Coutinho | Liverpool | Barcelona | £146m |
Florian Wirtz* | Bayer Leverkusen* | Liverpool* | £126* |
Moises Caicedo | Brighton | Chelsea | £115 |
Joao Felix | Benfica | Atletico Madrid | £113 |
If the deal goes through as expected, Wirtz will become the fourth most expensive transfer of all time, just below Liverpool’s sale of Philippe Coutinho to Barcelona.
That is a big statement of intent from the Premier League champions.
