What would Real Madrid’s Alvaro Morata bring to Jose Mourinho’s Manchester United?

A move for Real Madrid forward Alvaro Morata to English giants Manchester United is edging closer as the clubs look to iron out an agreed fee for the Spanish International, with the player having agreed personal terms, according to the .

It is believed that United are unwilling to pay more than £60 million, according to the , but reports in Spain, from , suggest the Spaniard will be revealed on Tuesday or Wednesday.

Obviously, in bringing in a striker, Mourinho is after goals and Morata may just be the man to provide that. In La Liga this season, the 24-year-old managed 15 successful strikes in 26 appearances, 12 of these from the bench.

The forward has really chipped in alongside the likes of Gareth Bale, Karim Benzema and Cristiano Ronaldo for Madrid, and this has understandably led to interest from outside Spain.

The Spaniard is clinical in front of goal, a typical fox-in-the-box, comfortable using his left and right foot. Despite his young age, he also has a wealth of experience.

Coming up through the highly praised Real Madrid youth system, the forward made a move to permanent move to Juventus, where he was superb. After helping the Italian club to the Champions League final, he was then re-signed by Los Blancos in the summer of 2016.

Despite having success at both clubs, especially in terms of goal-scoring, Morata has never really found a starting spot, namely because of the talent he has had to compete with. However, at Manchester United, under Mourinho, the 24-year-old could spearhead the United attack week-in-week-out, and for several years, too.

Clearly, he has the backing of the manager and the talent to succeed, a starting spot is all he could need in order to progress to the next level. With Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s contract coming to an end, United are in need of a world class striker, and the Spaniard seems like the perfect candidate.

Morata would have big boots to fill in Ibrahimovic, but of course, any player filling a striking role in a Manchester United side has significant pressure on him. The question is, will the Spaniard be the man to fire the Red Devils back to where they belong?
