Everton’s interest in Swansea midfielder Gylfi Sigurdsson is well known, but the Toffees are believed to have stepped up this interest after seeing a £30 million bid rejected, according to .

Swansea see the midfielder as a crucial player and are adamant that he is not for sale. As reported by , Huw Jenkins has described the midfielder as ‘priceless’, while the player himself has said he is happy to stay in South Wales next season.

Sigurdsson was the stand-out performer for Swansea and a very important part of their impressive fight against relegation. The Swans made a remarkable recovery from what seemed like a very dangerous position, with some incredible performances and results, most notably a 3-2 victory at Anfield and a 1-1 draw at Old Trafford, with the Icelander at the heart of it all.

With an exit potentially on the cards, what would Sigurdsson bring to a potential suitor like Everton?

The ex-Tottenham man managed nine goals and thirteen assists last season, in a Swansea team who lacked any real goal threat or creativity. Sigurdsson was their bright spark and, alongside Spanish forward Fernando Llorente, the pair were the players the Swans looked to for a goal.

Everyone is aware of the midfielder’s ability from set pieces, too. He, more often than not, threatens the keeper when shooting, but the Iceland ace is also capable of putting in a lethal cross, either from a free kick or corner. He is also very good penalty taker.

Although not blessed with great pace, the Icelander is a competent dribbler and can easily beat a man. With this array of talents, he was superb for Swansea in carving out chances for his teammates, the evidence being his thirteen assists that he racked up last season.

A move to Everton would see Sigurdsson join a midfield that struggled for goals, especially compared to the teams above them. His creative and goal-scoring abilities would really help Ronald Koeman’s side in the goal department. He could be a very important player for the Toffees alongside fellow new signing Davy Klassen.
