What Virgil van Dijk told Mohamed Salah in the dressing room before Liverpool vs West Ham which had the whole team laughing

Mohamed Salah revealed what Virgil van Dijk said in the Liverpool dressing room which had the whole squad in stitches ahead of their clash with West Ham.

Van Dijk’s message showed just how far Liverpool have come in such a short space of time as they thrashed the Hammers 5-0 and moved eight points clear at the top of the Premier League. The Reds’ ridiculous start under Arne Slot continued as the team recorded a 23rd win of the season from 27 matches.

When Liverpool made the trip down south to face West Ham last campaign, the mood in the camp was not quite the same and the Dutch defender was quick to remind Salah about it.

When Mohamed Salah clashed with Jurgen Klopp

Last season when Liverpool made the trip to the London Stadium, the atmosphere in the camp was very different. The Merseyside club had just dropped points in three of their last four matches and had lost ground in the title race.

Jurgen Klopp opted to start Mohamed Salah on the bench against West Ham. When the German manager went to bring him on with 10 minutes remaining, Salah and Klopp exchanged some heated words on the touchline. The incident drew quite a large amount of attention and showed that things behind the scenes at Anfield had become quite tense.

What Virgil van Dijk said to Mohamed Salah before West Ham

Salah has revealed that Virgil van Dijk decided to remind the dressing room about the incident last season and fortunately the forward could see the funny side of it. The 32-year-old admitted that last season’s trip to East London was not a nice moment, however, this term’s visit proved a lot better.

Salah told Sky Sports: “In the dressing room, the players said, ‘Do you remember what happened here last year?’ (Bust up with Klopp in April) They were laughing. Virgil started it. We had a laugh about it. It was not a nice moment here last year but this one was better.”
