What Virgil van Dijk could be lip-read saying to Manchester United player during 3-0 Liverpool win
Virgil van Dijk enjoyed another memorable trip to Old Trafford as Liverpool hammered Manchester United in Sunday’s Premier League clash.
The Dutchman has previously been part of a 5-0 win for Liverpool at Old Trafford as well as a 4-2 victory, with the Reds now recording a 3-0 win over the Red Devils on their own turf.
Old Trafford can often be an intimidating place to come for some sides, but it was Virgil van Dijk doing the intimidating himself as he confronted Manchester United No.6 Lisandro Martinez…
What Virgil van Dijk said to Lisandro Martinez
The Netherlands international’s altercation with the Argentina international was picked up by Sky Sports cameras, and the Liverpool No.4’s comments could quite easily be lip-read.
After Martinez absolutely clattered into Dominik Szoboszlai with an extremely late challenge, Van Dijk sprinted over to defend the Hungary international, with cameras picking up the 33-year-old saying: “Come try that with me”.

Clearly, Van Dijk was keen to defend the Liverpool No.8 – and also try to scare Martinez into not making another rash decision like that again.
It set the tempo for a relatively easy first half for Liverpool, as two goals from Luis Diaz put Arne Slot’s side in the driving seat, before Mohamed Salah added a third in the second half.
Liverpool are purring under Arne Slot
It is like watching an all-action Jurgen Klopp side, just with a pinch more tika-taka involved.

Slot has now coached Liverpool to three consecutive Premier League wins without conceding a single goal, earning a 2-0 victory over Ipswich Town, a 2-0 win against Brentford and now a 3-0 hammering of Manchester United at Old Trafford.
Of course, only time will tell for certain whether Liverpool are simply enjoying a case of the new manager bounce, but the tactical fluidity seen in these three wins suggest they are directly a cause of fine coaching, rather than just good fortune and increased motivation levels.
