What Tottenham’s plan for Archie Gray actually is after signing from him Leeds United

Archie Gray is Tottenham’s newest signing, and it’s fair to say he’s had a strong start to life in north London after signing from Leeds.

After arriving from Leeds, people at Tottenham are apparently very impressed by Gray’s ability, while he had a strong first appearance for Spurs at centre-back in a pre-season friendly.

Of course, at the age of just 18, Spurs need to tread carefully with Gray and not throw him in at the deep end.

Speaking on the , Dean Jones has been discussing Gray’s start to life at Tottenham, and he shared some insight into Spurs’ plans for the teenager.

According to Jones, Spurs’ plan is to not put any sort of pressure on Gray for the first few months of the season.

Jones claims that Tottenham’s top priority at this point is to make sure the player is comfortable and settled rather than expecting big performances from the player straight away.

Jones shared what he knows about how Spurs are going to handle Gray

“Archie Gray caught me by surprise because I didn’t think Spurs would be the ones to do that deal,” Jones said.

“It’s more hope than expectation about what he’ll do next season. In terms of Gray I was told he will get a few months where there is absolutely no pressure on him in the first two or three months of the season. They just want him to be comfortable and understand what his role will be and what the team philosophy is.”

Tottenham may need to be patient

Archie Gray may be a £40m player, but Spurs may need to be patient with this young man.

The 18-year-old has never played a minute of Premier League football before, and he will have to get used to the rigours of playing in the top-flight for a team like Tottenham.

At the age of just 18, it may take him quite some time to get up to speed, and, luckily, it sounds as though Spurs are going to give him plenty of time to adapt at his own pace.
