What Tottenham’s Micky van de Ven was doing at Hotspur Way this week amid injury recovery
Tottenham Hotspur face Fulham this weekend, and they head into this game, once again, with something of a depleted squad.
Guglielmo Vicario is out injured after picking up an ankle injury last week against Manchester City.
Cristian Romero remains a doubt ahead of this game. Romero was injured on international duty a few weeks ago.
Meanwhile, Micky van de Ven is also out of action after suffering a hamstring injury recently.
However, Van de Ven is on his way back to fitness, and speaking on his YouTube channel, Alasdair Gold has shared a positive update on the defender, claiming that he’s back doing work outdoors and was in the gym on Wednesday when he watched Spurs’ open training session.

Micky van de Ven is back in the gym
Gold shared what he saw Van de Ven doing on Wednesday when he watched Spurs’ open training session.
Gold says that Van de Ven is on the right track, but Spurs are going to be careful in terms of rushing him back.
“Micky van de Ven is on the road back. He’s doing some work outdoors. I saw him in the gym when I was watching open training on Wednesday at Hotspur way. Mikey Moore was in there and Van de Ven was in there doing some work as well,” Gold said.
“They’re going to be really cautious with both of them.”
Tottenham’s record without Micky van de Ven
Tottenham are going to ease Van de Ven back, but they will want him available sooner rather than later.
Indeed, the Dutchman is a key player for Tottenham, and you can see just how important he is from Spurs’ stats when he does and doesn’t play.
Tottenham record with Micky van de Ven | Tottenham record without Micky van de Ven | |
Games | 35 | 15 |
Wins | 19 | 7 |
Draws | 6 | 1 |
Losses | 10 | 7 |
Points per game | 1.88 | 1.46 |
Win percentage | 54% | 47% |
As you can see, Van de Ven’s absence from the team has a profound effect on how Spurs perform, with their win percentage dropping significantly when he isn’t in the side.
That said, Tottenham were brilliant against Manchester City last week with a makeshift backline, so perhaps Spurs are slightly less reliant on Van de Ven than they once were.
Van de Ven has been described as outstanding by Ange Postecoglou recently, and once he’s back fit and available, he will be straight back into this Spurs team.
