What Tottenham sources are now saying about potentially signing Marcus Rashford
With just over two weeks to go in the January transfer window, Marcus Rashford’s situation is still up in the air.
Rashford is ready to leave Manchester United, and a number of clubs are keen on signing him.
AC Milan are looking at Rashford, while West Ham United are keen on Rashford too.
Rashford has been linked to Tottenham in recent times as well, but according to Mike McGrath, speaking on Last Word on Spurs, this one may be a non-starter.
Indeed, the journalist says that Spurs are denying the links to Marcus Rashford, even if, personally, he thinks Tottenham should be all over this deal.

What Tottenham are saying about Marcus Rashford
McGrath shared what he’s been told by Spurs about Rashford.
The journalist says that Tottenham have denied the Rashford links, but he personally thinks that Tottenham should ask about this deal.
“With the others, Rashford, that’s been denied by the club, Spurs are saying no. Personally this isn’t from information, just my opinion, I think Spurs would be mad not to ask about it if he’s available. I don’t think United would sell to a mid-table rival or doing business. I would be amazed if they didn’t have a conversation about it, but I don’t think it’s going to happen,” McGrath said.
Tottenham and Manchester United’s past dealings
Spurs are denying that they’re in for Rashford, but, even if they wanted the player, this deal may not be possible.
Indeed, Manchester United don’t like doing business with Tottenham. In fact, it’s now been 15 years since there was a permanent move between the two clubs.
Tottenham and Manchester United past transfer dealings | Year |
Sergio Reguilon to Manchester United on loan | 2024 |
Dimitar Berbatov to Manchester United | 2008 |
Frazier Campbell to Tottenham | 2008 |
Michael Carrick to Manchester United | 2006 |
Teddy Sheringham to Tottenham | 2001 |
United don’t like dealing with Daniel Levy. Levy handled the Dimitar Berbatov deal back in 2009, and he delayed that deal for ages before agreeing to sell the striker for a few million pounds more.
United didn’t like that negotiation tactic, and, since then, they haven’t dealt with Spurs over a permanent transfer.
Manchester United wanted Harry Kane at one point, but they didn’t proceed on that one because of Levy.
Letting Rashford leave United is a hard decision for the Red Devils, and it will only be more painful if they have to go through a Daniel Levy negotiation when letting Rashford go.
As McGrath says, this one is probably a non-starter.
