What Tottenham have been saying about Timo Werner in private meetings with RB Leipzig

Tottenham have reportedly relayed to RB Leipzig that Timo Werner will be a regular in the starting XI once the striker joins on loan.

Spurs are currently in talks to bring the Germany international to north London for the remainder of the season, with Werner set to return to the Premier League 18 months after leaving Chelsea.

The 27-year-old has struggled with injury this season, though Werner is clearly a player that Ange Postecoglou is eager to sign for Tottenham’s attacking ranks.

And , Leipzig technical director Mario Gomez has detailed what Tottenham have been saying about Werner in private transfer meetings with the Bundesliga club.

Indeed, all the noise coming out of both camps seems to suggest that this is a transfer everyone wants to happen, and Tottenham seem confident that Werner will be a regular.

Gomez said: “It’s a win-win for everyone. Germany benefits from it. We benefit from this because we get a player going. He will play regularly, that’s what Tottenham have conveyed to us.”

Timo Werner could be a masterstroke signing for Tottenham

Werner to Tottenham is a transfer few pundits and fans would have expected going into the January transfer window this year.

However, the deal itself could be a masterstroke from Spurs if the German international can hit the ground running in north London.

Whilst there will be pressure on Werner’s shoulders after the striker’s last spell in England, the attacker has what it takes to thrive under Postecoglou at Tottenham.

And if Werner can stay fit, there’s no telling how good the forward could be for the north London side, with Tottenham in need of more attacking outlets in the squad.
