‘What the first team has been missing’: Some Leeds fans hail 49-second footage from last night

A number of Leeds United fans have praised Joe Gelhardt and Sam Greenwood for their work in scoring the Whites’ Premier League 2 clash with Leicester last night.

Mark Jackson’s Leeds Under-23s charges fell to a 3-1 defeat in York, but Gelhardt and Greenwood were bright once again.

Both players have been in and around Marcelo Bielsa’s first-team squad this season, with Gelhardt getting Premier League game time.

On Friday, both made the Leeds U23 starting XI as they sought to get back to winning ways in the league.

Although they ended up falling to a fifth consecutive defeat in the competition, there was some solace in how well Gelhardt and Greenwood combined for their goal.

Gelhardt picked up a pass, offloaded to Greenwood and ran into the box.

The former Arsenal gem then sliced the Foxes defence open with a pass back to Gelhardt, who duly slotted home.

Leeds uploaded a 49-second clip on their Twitter feed:

And some Leeds fans loved what they saw:

Thorp Arch has produced plenty of talented players in recent years.

Bielsa hasn’t been afraid to play youngsters, and so it’ll be exciting to see how the likes of Gelhardt and Greenwood will progress in the coming years.
