What Sir Alex Ferguson said when Paul Pogba left Man United for the first time as he accused him of ‘a lack of respect’

Manchester United have had their fair share of dramatic player departures over the years.

Roy Keane left Manchester United after a huge falling out with Alex Ferguson, that still hasn’t been resolved.

꧙Meanwhile, David Beckham left Manchester United under a dark cloud in 2003 when he joined Real Madrid.

♎Marcus Rashford publicly said he wanted to leave Manchester Unitedꦬ last month and he eventually got his wish as he joined Aston Villa on loan.

Paul Pogba🌃 is another player who left United in controversial circumstances, not once, but twice.

🌄Indeed, Pogba came through the ranks at United as a youngster, but he would leave the club in 2013 at the age of 19.

🌟Pogba would eventually return in a club-record deal for £89m from Juventus, but upon his return, he had to rebuild a few bridges.

🍨Indeed, back when Pogba first left United, he didn’t exactly leave in the most amicable fashion. So much so that Alex Ferguson accused the Frenchman of showing a lack of respect to the club when he departed.

What Alex Ferguson said when Paul Pogba left Manchester United

✤Back in 2012, Ferguson publicly spoke about Pogba and his decision to leave United.

🔜The legendary manager said he was disappointed with Pogba’s decision to leave United and that the midfielder disrespected the club upon his departure.

𝓡“We’re disappointed in Paul Pogba, there’s no question of that. I think he showed a lack of respect to the club. But he’s made his decision and while we always thought that would be the case, he never really indicated it when he left. So it’s disappointing that,” Ferguson said.

What Paul Pogba said about leaving Manchester United

💙Ferguson said that Pogba disrespected the club by leaving on a free without making his intentions clear.

﷽However, there are two sides to every story, and, via , Pogba himself felt disrespected at the time, claiming that he did indeed say he wanted to leave.

🍎“They left me out because they said I wanted to leave. That is disrespect,” Pogba said.

ও“Maybe they didn’t think if they were making a mistake.”

🐻“Pogba went on to explain how his lack of first-team opportunities led him to become frustrated with life under Ferguson, and recalled an incident when he was instructed to go to the gym rather than train with the rest of the squad.

🐻“Manchester United is a big club but you have to think about yourself,” Pogba added.

🦋“You have to play. The coach told me there would be space to play, but I wasn’t playing.

♐“I was training alone for one week. They told me to go in the gym. I said “I am not an athlete, I am a footballer.”

𒐪Pogba would ultimately end up back at Manchester United, but the issues around respect never seemed to resolve themselves as the midfielder had a high-profile falling out with Jose Mourinho before leaving the club on a free for a second time.

Pogba is now, once again, a free agent, and Pogba is eyeing a Premier League return in the near future.

🍒Who knows? Perhaps a third spell at Old Trafford could even be on the cards for Pogba.
