What Real Sociedad have just told Martin Zubimendi to do if he wants Liverpool move
Liverpool are chasing a deal for Real Sociedad’s Martin Zubimendi but there’s been a major twist from the Spanish end.
Zubimendi ꦰhas emerged as the number one midfield target for Liverpool and there’s been increased speculation in recent days that a deal could be close.
The Spaniard has been monitored closely by Arsenal all summer 🌱but it is Liverpool who coming out as frontrunners to get the deal done.
However, nothing has been agreed just yet and with suggestions Zubimendi is unconvinced𝕴 of a move away from Spain just yet, the deal is on a knife-edge.
꧋And now, another spanner seems to have been thrown into the works from the Sociedad end.
Real Sociedad tell Martin Zubimendi to pay up if he wants to sign for Liverpool
🗹According to , Sociedad have ramped up the pressure on Zubimendi by apparently insisting he pays his own £51m release clause if he wants the move.
🃏The Spanish club have launched what’s described as a ‘power play’ to try and force Zubimendi into a decision and give everyone clarity.
The midfielder is stumbling over deciding on the move to Liverpool.
🔯However, the Reds have been speaking to his agents and management and there are suggestions the Premier League club want an answer soon.
꧂This from Sociedad, though, puts the pressure on Zubimendi to make a decision quickly.
꧅Quite how a player would pay his own clause, is a completely different discussion.
Liverpool should use this as leverage
🅘For any doubt Zubimendi might have over moving to Liverpool, this could actually work to Sociedad’s advantage.
♔Liverpool can now use this action as reason to say that essentially, the club are trying to force things and in a way, show the player a lack of respect.
🐼This should, in theory, help Liverpool’s cause and it very much might be the thing that tips the deal in their favour.
🌌Zubimendi, then, could well be a Liverpool player by the end of this week if everything can be signed off and sorted.
