What Real Madrid’s plan to sign Trent Alexander-Arnold from Liverpool actually is

Real Madrid continue to be linked with a move for Trent Alexander-Arnold as the right-back’s contract continues to wind down.

Alexander-Arnold’s contract at Liverpool is up next summer, and Real Madrid are said to be circling this situation.

The full-back is said to be open to a move to Madrid, but this may not be a move for this summer.

Indeed, according to Dean Jones, speaking on the , Madrid are watching this situation with a view to a free transfer next summer rather than splashing the cash to sign him in this window.

Trent Alexander-Arnold could join Real Madrid on a free transfer

Jones shared what he knows about the defender.

“They have to sort out this Trent Alexander-Arnold situation. Real Madrid are just watching that situation more than anything. They actually had it in mind for next year to try and sign Trent on a free, but if he suddenly becomes available I could definitely see that deal picking up,” Jones said.

What Trent Alexander-Arnold was recently spotted doing

These links with Real Madrid are very interesting, especially as Alexander-Arnold was recently spotted going on holiday with Jude Bellingham.

Indeed, according to Football London journalist Kaya Kaynak, Bellingham and Alexander-Arnold are currently together in LA.

“I saw Jude Bellingham and Trent Alexander-Arnold together in the passport queue in LA,” Kaynak said.

“I guess they’re on holiday together in LA. I don’t think they are signing for Arsenal, but maybe it’s some sort of Real Madrid link-up, Trent has been linked with a move over there, so it will be interesting to keep an eye out on that one.”

Alexander-Arnold already has a friend in the Madrid squad, and he could just be 12 months away from getting a move to Los Blancos.

After signing Kylian Mbappe using a similar strategy, don’t be shocked if Madrid do end up signing Alexander-Arnold on a free next year.
