What Real Madrid think of Rodrygo as Arsenal target £857m star

Fabrizio Romano has now shared what Real Madrid think of Rodrygo as Arsenal target the Brazilian.

All eyes are on the South American as Real Madrid prepare to welcome Endrick and Kylian Mbappe to the Santiago Bernabeu this summer.

Many expect Rodrygo to be shoved aside to make room, as the Spanish giants have done previously with the likes of Mesut Ozil and Angel Di Maria when signing Gareth Bale and James Rodriguez.

A story from Spanish news outlet Sport claimed that Arsenal have asked about the Brazil international’s situation ahead of Mbappe and Endrick arriving in Spain, with Mikel Arteta a fan of the forward.

Now – thanks to Fabrizio Romano – Real Madrid’s thoughts on Rodrygo have emerged…

What Real Madrid think of Arsenal target Rodrygo

Well – as aforesaid – Arsenal sensed an opportunity to sign Ozil after Real Madrid splashed out on Bale back in 2013.

However – this time around – it seems Arsenal will not benefit in similar fashion.

Romano claims that Real Madrid are very happy with Rodrygo and have no plans to sell the 23-year-old this summer.

The reliable Italian journalist adds that the Osasco-born forward is also 100% committed to Real Madrid, and remains focused on honouring his contract, which runs until June 2028 and contains a release clause worth €1bn (£857m).

Romano wrote: “Real Madrid are very happy with Rodrygo internally, same feeling on player side. Despite new signings incoming in the summer, Rodrygo remains 100% happy and committed to Real Madrid. He also recently signed new deal until June 2028 including €1B release clause.”

The Brazil international – who Real Madrid signed from Santos for back in July 2018 – has scored goals in 43 appearances this season, while also providing eight assists.

Edu must stay alert

In our view, we would take Real Madrid’s stance with a pinch of salt.

The Spanish giants are highly unlikely to come out and tell the media that Rodrygo is for sale this summer – that would demoralise the player, and also cause Real Madrid to lose power from a negotiating viewpoint.

From our point of view, Carlo Ancelotti will find it very tough to keep all seven of Vinicius Junior, Jude Bellingham, Endrick, Mbappe, Arda Guler, Joselu and Rodrygo content next season, so a major sale could happen.

Be sure to keep an eye on this situation, as anything could happen in the summer transfer window.
