What Polish media are now saying about Arsenal defender Jakub Kiwior after ‘disaster’ international break
There’s no doubt that it’s been a tough few months or so for Arsenal defender Jakub Kiwior who has fallen down the pecking order further after Riccardo Calafiori’s arrival in north London.
Kiwior enjoyed plenty of opportunities for Arsenal last season, predominantly as a left-back whilst others were absent.
Although, along with Calafiori’s arrival, Jurrien Timber is also now back fit, and in truth it’s difficult to imagine when the Poland international will be able to enjoy first team minutes.
Kiwior was linked with an Arsenal exit this summer, many Serie A clubs were said to be interested.
However, a departure or serious offer never appeared to materialise, and Kiwior will be with the Gunners until at least the beginning of January, seemingly with very little playing opportunities.
Arsenal’s Jakub Kiwior dropped after error-strewn performance
Thus far in his career, 24-year-old Kiwior has 27 caps for Poland, a regular starter for his country.
And although Kiwior kept his place against Scotland last Thursday in a late 3-2 win for the away side, the defender was hooked at half-time because of his poor performance.

Polish sources called Kiwior’s display a ‘disaster’ and then explained that the Arsenal defender would not be allowed to take a spot in the starting side against Croatia.
And as expected, Kiwior was benched against Croatia on Sunday evening and didn’t play a minute.
Interestingly, sources and are in part blaming Kiwior’s lack of football and difficult situation at Arsenal for his poor display and match sharpness.
And in truth, it’s hard to argue with their conclusion – Kiwior must be lacking in confidence.
Kiwior needs to leave Arsenal as soon as possible
Following Calafiori’s arrival, there’s evidently no path to the first eleven at Arsenal for Kiwior now.
Mikel Arteta has effectively found an upgrade in the Italian, a younger profile with more pace, power and control on the ball – a pretty overwhelming conclusion.
Kiwior has taken his chances at Arsenal, it’s not really through any point of his own that he’s in this situation.
But it’s clear that the Poland international should seek and exit in January for the sake of his own development, he’s still got an excellent future ahead at the right club.
That being said, one Arsenal linked striker just scored two more goals for his country over the international break, making him harder to ignore in the coming transfer windows.
