What Norway’s doctors are saying about Arsenal captain Martin Odegaard’s ankle injury
Ever since Martin Odegaard limped off the pitch for Norway on Monday evening, Arsenal supporters have been dying to find out if their captain will be fit for the North London derby.
Arsenal have already lost Declan Rice to suspension and Riccardo Calafiori also picked up a minor knock whilst playing for Italy over the break.
Now, Mikel Arteta is faced with starting a crucial match against Tottenham Hotspur without two of his most reliable starters.
And whilst Rice will then swiftly return for important ties with Atalanta and Manchester City next week, there’s no such guarantee with Odegaard.
In fact, it now seems as if Arsenal’s leader by example will now be missing for all three.
Martin Odegaard hasn’t broken his ankle but could miss several Arsenal games
Reliable Norwegian outlet have just provided a further update on Odegaard’s condition, initially sharing the reassuring news that his ankle is not broken.
However, the Arsenal captain is set to miss important games for club and country as a result of his issue.

Norway’s national team doctor says that Odegaard’s ankle injury may take at least three weeks to heal, such was the severity of the issue.
Odegaard will miss the North London derby, which is not too much of a surprise for those who have seen how the Arsenal star went down.
VG also stated that the Norway captain will miss the Champions League opener next week, and the tie with Man City is also at risk.
Furthermore, it is ‘uncertainwhether Odegaard will even be ready for his country’s games against Slovenia and Austria in October.
Ethan Nwaneri is ready for his North London derby debut
It seems almost certain that Kai Havertz will drop into one of the midfield roles against Tottenham on Sunday.
Havertz impressed in midfield for Germany over the break, playing both games as a number 10.
Alternatively, Arsenal might choose Ethan Nwaneri to start, a 17-year-old who is brimming with talent but is yet to make his full debut.
Of course, if Arteta wants to be a little more reserved, he could opt to play Oleksandr Zinchenko in midfield.
But the Zinchenko really struggled for Ukraine when playing a similar role on Tuesday evening.
