What Mikel Arteta has told Mikel Merino to start doing in training ahead of him potentially joining Arsenal

Mikel Arteta has given Mikel Merino training drills to do

According to , Merino has been hard at work keeping his fitness levels ahead of a move to Arsenal.

Arteta has given the Spaniard specific training drills to do in order to give him the best chance of making an immediate impact in North London.

A move could be finalised this week, so there’s a real chance he’ll be available for the clash against Aston Villa on Saturday.

Merino has been totally sold on Arteta’s vision and is thought to have turned down interest from Barcelona and Chelsea.

Mikel Merino price tag

Merino is expected to complete a £25m move to Arsenal ahead of deadline day and is viewed as a Granit Xhaka replacement.

The 28-year-old, who previously plied his trade at Newcastle United, is an all-rounder and his 13-goal contributions last term evince that he’s a threat offensively.

His arrival will allow Declan Rice to move back to the number six role when necessary, so the overall balance of the side will certainly be improved.
