What James Maddison is ‘very proud’ of after Tottenham’s recent defeat to Crystal Palace
Tottenham Hotspur’s form this season has left a lot to be desired with their recent win over West Ham followed by defeat to Crystal Palace.
Ange Postecoglou’s Tottenham have suffered from a real lack of consistency in the Premier League as they currently sit slumped in eighth spot on just 13 points.
One player who has also suffered with his form is James Maddison with the midfielder unable to make a return to the recent England squads.
Tim Sherwood slammed Maddison recently for his performance in the second half of the defeat against Brighton & Hove Albion.
But the 27-year-old has come away from the defeat on the weekend to Palace with something he is incredibly proud of.

James Maddison ‘proud’ after making 200th Premier League appearance
Despite his shaky form, Maddison started on the weekend at Selhurst Park in a game which marked a big achievement for the midfielder.
In the wake of the defeat, Maddison posted an Instagram story which shared his delight for the individual achievement.
“Despite the poor team performance and result yesterday, I’m still very proud to reach 200 premier league appearances,” he said.

“An achievement that you dream you might one day be able to get to, but more in hope than reality. Super grateful to everyone who’s had a part to play in me achieving this milestone.”

Maddison outperformed Dejan Kulusevski vs Crystal Palace
Over recent weeks there has been debate whether Maddison and Dejan Kulusevski should both be on the pitch at the same time.
Mark Schwarzer has hailed Kulusevski’s form of late but the Swede did not enjoy a productive afternoon in south London on Sunday.
Both Maddison and Kulusevski were hooked shortly after the hour mark but Postecoglou may well have gotten this decision wrong.
vs Crystal Palace | Dejan Kulusevski | James Maddison |
Touches | 32 | 51 |
Key passes | 1 | 1 |
Ground duels won | 2/8 | 5/9 |
Shots on target | 1 | 2 |
Maddison did actually put in a solid showing in what proved to be a frustrating afternoon for Tottenham and perhaps deserved longer than the 62 minutes given to him.
