What is now being said about David Moyes behind the scenes at West Ham

Following yesterday’s humiliating loss to Arsenal, West Ham United fans may expect that David Moyes is under increasing pressure.

Moyes certainly isn’t unfamiliar to scrutiny during his time in East London, he’s been here before.

But Sunday’s defeat did feel like a corner was turned, and the noise will now be a little louder.

Not only did West Ham lose, but the players also looked bereft of belief or any real instruction.

Of course, with such a negative fallout from the game, it is important to remember the context of the current season.

West Ham are eighth in the Premier League and have qualified from their Europa League group – it’s not all doom and gloom.

But considering interest was already emerging within the club for Middlesbrough manager Michael Carrick, this punishing defeat may only strengthen those ideas.

And with all that being said, journalist has now shared the latest on Moyes’ future over on X.

Steinberg referred to West Ham’s previous willingness to offer Moyes a new contract, something that appears to have changed after yesterday’s loss.

David Moyes’ West Ham future said to be increasingly unclear after Arsenal loss

Steinberg explained that some at West Ham still expect Moyes to stay, even if the defeat has changed the mood further.

The journalist said: “Despite positivity last month there’s now no guarantee that West Ham will end up giving David Moyes a new deal.

“Some still expect him to stay but recent form has changed the mood. Further talks planned later in the season, West Ham hoping to see improvement in results.”

Of course, given West Ham’s position in all competitions, it seems like Moyes should definitely be afforded time, particularly given last season’s European success.

Perhaps if West Ham do want to seek a change, that would be better explored in the summer.

But given yesterday’s harrowing loss, which would cause concern at any club, it’s understandable that Moyes will need to prove his credentials once again at West Ham.

That being said, James Ward-Prowse has now shared what he thought Arsenal taught West Ham in Sunday’s defeat.
