‘What I’m told’: Fabrizio Romano shares striker transfer update for Arsenal fans

Arsenal are planning to sign an “important” striker who’d become their No. 9 for years to come, according to Fabrizio Romano.

With the January transfer window on the horizon, the Gunners have a number of things they have to consider up front.

Two Arsenal strikers – Alexandre Lacazette and Eddie Nketiah – face uncertain futures, with their contracts up in the summer.

Both are free to sign pre-contract agreements in January ahead of an Emirates Stadium exit at season’s end.

It remains to be seen whether Arsenal will act at the start of the year, both in terms of outgoings and incomings.

And while Romano feels that Lacazette wants to leave Arsenal next year, he says he’s been told that the Gunners have a big transfer plan in the pipeline.

“What I’m told is that Arsenal have a plan to sign an important striker,” he said on .

“I don’t know if it will be January or summer – you remember last time we mentioned Dusan Vlahovic, they were trying but the player was not open to go.

But they’re looking for this kind of player – last summer they were trying for Lautaro Martinez, they had a serious interest in (him) but the player was not open for a Premier League move in general.

“They want this kind of striker, a young one who could be the No. 9 for Arsenal for many years.”

An exciting update for Arsenal fans, who could potentially be cheering on a new top striker next year if the reports are true.
