What Harry Kane did behind the scenes at Bayern before Mathys Tel changed his mind about Tottenham
Tottenham Hotspur are all set to sign Mathys Tel from Bayern Munich.
Spurs fans have been through a rollercoaster of emotions over the last few days. After Randal Kolo Muani rejected them, Tel turned Spurs down too.
Just when it looked like Spurs would end the winter transfer window without an addition up top, Daniel Levy and Johan Lange worked their magic.
Tel is on his way to Tottenham now, and Spurs fans may have to thank Harry Kane for this deal.
Harry Kane’s role in Mathys Tel agreeing to join Tottenham
Harry Kane is one of Tottenham’s greatest players of all time.
The Englishman came through the ranks at Spurs’ academy and became their record goalscorer. He carried Spurs for several years in the Premier League.
Kane left Tottenham and joined Bayern Munich in the summer of 2023, but his love for Spurs hasn’t gone away at all.
have revealed that Tel was ‘persuaded’ by Kane to change his mind and join Tottenham after the youngster initially rejected a move to North London.
The report claims that the France striker held talks with Kane and then ‘decided to make a significant U-turn’ after he was ‘convinced’ by the England captain to move to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
Tel’s imminent move to Spurs is set to be a straight loan deal without any option or obligation to buy clause included in the agreement.
However, TBR can confirm that Tel is open-minded about his future, and he will make a decision once the current season comes to an end.

What Harry Kane recently said about Mathys Tel
Tel and Kane have worked together since the latter joined Bayern Munich in 2023.
The England star is one of the best strikers in the world, and he knows a great attacking talent when he sees one.
Speaking about Tel recently, Kane advised the youngster to pick a club where he would get regular minutes. It looks like Spurs have offered him just that.
Kane said: “Mathys is a great young player. I have worked with him for 18 months now. He has a lot of potential, works and likes to train hard. He can still improve but he has the right mindset to do so.
“Whatever his next step is, the most important thing is that he plays. My advice is that wherever he goes now, he should make sure he gets playing time and experience.”
