What Gary Neville and Ian Wright have noticed about Ange Postecoglou in recent interviews at Tottenham

Since a 1-1 draw with Leicester City on the opening weekend of the Premier League, Tottenham Hotspur have not drawn a game of football.

In all competitions, Ange Postecoglou and his Tottenham team have otherwise won 10 games and lost the other six – there’s not been any middle ground.

And perhaps that explains some of the issues at the club right now, as every loss seems to be such a set-back for Spurs.

In particular, recent defeats to Brighton & Hove Albion, Crystal Palace and Ipswich Town have completely taken the gloss off of some excellent wins against Aston Villa and Manchester City.

Tottenham fans are crying out for more consistency – something they’re yet to see under Postecoglou.

Ange Postecoglou doesn’t appear happy at Tottenham

That considered, when speaking on the ‘Stick to Football’ podcast, both Gary Neville and Ian Wright spotted something concerning about Postecoglou’s demeanour of late.

The pair thought that the Spurs boss had looked miserable in recent interviews, a man who is seemingly also fed up of making excuses for his team’s performances.

Neville initially said: “He doesn’t look happy Ange, at the minute, in some of his interviews?

Wright replied: “After the Ipswich game he looked confused. Did you see that look on his face like what just happened?

Neville: “And the Brighton game where he was stood on the pitch at the end.”

Postecoglou has never hid his emotion since arriving in N17, part of the reason he can be so likeable, but his heart-on-his-sleeve persona is perhaps only exacerbating the club’s struggles on the pitch right now.

What would represent success for Postecoglou this season?

Recently, Alan Shearer shared his issue with Tottenham right now – he didn’t understand why they weren’t making more of an effort to win a cup competition.

Perhaps Postecoglou knows that his predominant focus has to be on Spurs’ league position, which is incredibly important for the club.

It’s a difficult situation, and one that doesn’t need to be blown out of proportion.

Tottenham are 10th and have 16 points after 11 games, a position they can definitely still salvage.

But Postecoglou’s negative demeanour on the touchline and in press conferences may be slightly worrying for some Tottenham fans.
