What Fabrizio Romano has heard about Arsenal’s interest in Newcastle United’s Anthony Gordon

The transfer window may now be closed until January but there could well be a feeling that more could have been done over the summer at Arsenal.

Mikel Arteta‘s side are already facing their🃏 first test of the 2024/25 campaign despite being just three games deep.

Arsenal have beeꦍn able to take seven points from their opening three games but injuries and suspensio🌄ns are set to leave Arteta with a selection headache.

The summer saw Arsenal linked with a🌌 big money move for Nico Williams who has since decided to remain at Athl♔etic Bilbao, for n⭕ow.

In the dying minutes of deadl𒅌ine day, Raheem Sterling secured himself a move to the north London outfit on a season-long loan.

But the♈re could well be another Premier League winger who the ❀Gunners have their eyes on ahead of next summer’s window.

Whether Arsenal are interested in Anthony Gordon

It has been suggested that Arsenal have alread꧂y shown an int🦩erest in Newcastle United’s Anthony Gordon over the summer.

The England international enjoyed a seriously impressive 2023/24 season with the north east▨ side.

And that also saw the likes of Liverpool sho💜w an interest in Gordon when Newcastle were sufferi🙈ng from their PSR issues.

However, Fabrizio Romano has now shared his understanding on Arsenal’s report💟ed interest in Gordon.

“I’m aware there have bee𓄧n some claims made about Arsenal enquiring about Anthony Gord൲on, but I wanted to clarify my understanding around the Newcastle winger here,” he said in his .

“As I reported previously, Liverpool were the club in talks to sign Gordon in June. I don’t have any concrete info on🅰 Arsenal also because they never really planned to spend crazy money on a winger this summer. Liverpool wanted him in June but then he was too expe𒉰nsive.

“That’s all we can say🍒 for now – it’s normal to have top talents like this being linked with big clubs, but Newcastle wereꦺ strong with their asking price and so a move to Liverpool couldn’t happen, while I can’t confirm what some others are saying about Arsenal, if that changes I will let you know.”

Anthony Gordon would be a Gabriel Martinelli upgrade

Gordon has now been playin𒈔g his football on Tyneside for around 18 months and♑ last season he certainly impressed.

The England international returned 11 goals and 10🐬🐎 assists in the Premier League alone.

However, Gordon is ꧙believed to have had his head turned by Liverpool’s interest o💛ver the summer despite still having two years on his Newcastle contract.

Co𝄹nsidering Martinelli only provided six goals and four assists in the league last season, Gordon could well provide Arsenal with a big upgrade on the left wing.
