What Dominic Solanke has previously said about Arsenal after claims he’s close to joining Tottenham
This summer, Bournemouth striker Dominic Solanke is said to be on the shortlist of a number of clubs including north London rivals Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur.
Although, as Mikel Arteta ponders whether to sign a forward before the end of August, Tottenham are pushing to sign Solanke, believing he’s the perfect fit for Ange Postecoglou.
To that end, Solanke has said yes to joining Tottenham, presumably also concluding that this is the perfect next step for his career.
Solanke is often celebrated for his excellent pressing as well as his goalscoring, traits that should make him very popular in N17.
Of course, the Englishman’s £65m buy-out clause could still be an issue – would Spurs be willing to pay such a figure?

Solanke scored 19 Premier League goals last season, signalling a clear improvement, but a deal at that price would still be something of a risk.
That being said, Solanke’s previous comments on growing up as an Arsenal fan may prove to be a bigger sticking point for some Tottenham supporters, who are less concerned about any price tag.
Tottenham target Dominic Solanke admits he used to attend Arsenal matches as fan
Solanke was speaking to in May of this year, before facing Arsenal in the Premier League.
And although the striker admitted that the club meant little to him today, Solanke did say he often went to the Emirates Cup with his father.
He was asked: “First football shirt you ever got?”
Solanke replied: “Would have probably been Arsenal. Yeah my Dad was an Arsenal fan so I used to follow them.
“I went to a few Emirates Cups back in the day.”
Interviewer: “Do you think about that when you play Arsenal?”
Solanke: “Not anymore. Back in the day when you’re young you love watching football and stuff but when you actually grow up and start playing against those teams I think it’s a bit hard to support a team, you know?”
Of course, when reading those comments, Tottenham fans will focus on the fact that Solanke isn’t an Arsenal fan today.
And should the striker make the move to north London this summer, he would undoubtedly be fully committed to Spurs, perhaps hoping to kickstart his England career under Postecoglou.
