What David Sullivan thinks about replacing Julen Lopetegui with Michael Carrick as West Ham manager
- EXCLUSIVE with Graeme Bailey
West Ham could soon be on the lookout for a new manager despite only hiring Julen Lopetegui in May as a replacement for David Moyes.
The Spaniard has failed to impress since replacing the Glaswegian last summer overseeing seven defeats from 14 Premier League games and just four wins to leave West Ham 14th.

TBR Football understand a small section of the West Ham hierarchy still support Lopetegui with David Sullivan unwilling to make a change unless a standout candidate emerges.
There were rumours that Michael Carrick could leave his role at Middlesbrough to return to east London where he made 154 appearances for West Ham as a player with TBR Football now receiving information on that topic.
David Sullivan not considering Michael Carrick despite Mark Noble admiration
Sources have informed TBR Football that Sullivan is not currently thinking about offering Carrick the chance to replace Lopetegui although the Englishman does have admirers at the London Stadium.
It is believed that Mark Noble Sporting Director at West Ham is fond of his old teammate and is appreciative of his work at the Riverside Stadium, where Middlesbrough currently sit fifth in the Championship.

Other senior members of West Ham’s hierarchy are also not considering Carrick at this stage, while the 43-year-old himself is said to be happy on Teeside, and not thinking about an exit.

The man from Wallsend has impressed since taking charge of Middlesbrough back in October 2022 his first proper job in management following a caretaker stint at Manchester United overseeing 54 wins, 17 draws and 36 defeats from 107 games at the Riverside.
TBR Football understand Kasper Hjulmand is under consideration at West Ham amidst Lopetegui’s struggles.
What Michael Carrick has previously said about managing West Ham
Carrick was linked to West Ham back in November 2023 as well, and spoke about the rumours in a press conference.

Football London quoted the Middlesbrough boss as saying: “I started at West Ham as a young boy and it’s a fantastic football club, but I know David well, played under him and have huge respect for him. I think for me to comment on anything would be hugely unfair, and I wouldn’t do that.
“What I will say is that I hope they have a fantastic end to the season with David and the club because it’s a fantastic place and David is a good man. I really wish them all the success./p>
