What Daniel Levy wants to do in the event that Tottenham are sold in the near future

There could soon be a change at boardroom level at Tottenham Hotspur.

Indeed, Tottenham fans protested against the current ownership at the weekend, and once that ball starts rolling, there can soon be changes at the highest level at a club.

Levy has been affected by these protests according to reports.

Qatari-based groups have been linked with Tottenham recently, and while there’s been no concrete movement on that front as of yet, this is certainly a situation to keep an eye on.

Speaking on the Rule The Roost Podcast, Dan Kilpatrick has been discussing a potential Spurs takeover, and he says that he has heard whispers about a Qatari takeover.

However, according to Kilpatrick, Spurs have always denied these rumours, while he claims that even if ENIC and Daniel Levy do decide to sell, there’s a chance that Levy could stay at Spurs as something of a minority partner.

Tottenham could be sold and Daniel Levy could stay

Kilpatrick shared what he’s heard about a potential takeover at Tottenham.

The journalist says that he has heard these whispers when making his checks, and that talks did happen with PSG’s owners a couple of years ago.

Kilpatrick says he has heard that Levy would like to stay at Spurs, although he hasn’t been able to double-source that just yet.

“Yeah, beyond saying that I’ve heard the whispers . I believe, although the club has always denied it, that Levy did hold talks with Nasser from PSG a couple of years ago about a minority investment that never went anywhere,Kilpatrick said.

“But there has been interest from Qatar. And I think it is fair to say that it’s kind of well-known and well talked about that Levy would kind of like to stay on in the event of ENIC becoming potentially a minority partner. You know, I haven’t written that because I haven’t kind of been able to double source it./p>

“But I don’t mind saying it because it’s been reported and yeah, it’s been rumoured for a while. I mean, in terms of my take on that, I find it very, very interesting because I think Levy does feel like, I hesitate to say the word toxic because it might be a bit strong, but you know, obviously there’s a lot of unrest towards him by supporters. So it would be, it’s almost hard to imagine that a company would buy Spurs and then say we want to keep this guy who’s a kind of lightning rod for frustrations in place./p>

How much would it cost to buy Tottenham?

Buying and selling football clubs is big business, and when you’re dealing with a team the size of Tottenham, you have a massive asset being spoken about here.

Indeed, to buy Tottenham Hotspur, any potential investor would have to stump up tons of cash.

Jim Ratcliffe recently bought 25% of Manchester United for the £1.2bn, valuing the whole club at around £4.8bn.

Of course, Spurs aren’t as valuable as Manchester United, but they’re not a million miles off.

According to Forbes, Tottenham are now worth around $3.2bn.

Tottenham valuation breakdown

Commercial$984m
Matchday$634m

Total$3.2bn

That’s a lot of money, but if the Qataris are indeed interested, it’s a very affordable sum for Nasser Al-Khelaifi and co should they wish to buy Spurs.

Whether or not Levy stays on in the event of a takeover remains to be seen, but this is certainly a situation to keep an eye on.
