What Crystal Palace may now be willing to do with Eberechi Eze next summer amid Tottenham interest
Tottenham Hotspur were able to bring in a number of new players over the summer transfer window ahead of the new season.
It was a summer which promised change and that is exactly what Ange Postecoglou got but there was certainly more outgoings than incomings at Tottenham.
Daniel Levy sanctioned a staggering 15 player departures over the summer with still time for more to follow.
Alfie Devine is currently headed to K.V.C. Westerlo for a medical ahead of a loan deal for the 2024/25 season.
However, there may well be some questions as to whether Tottenham have done enough when it comes to player arrivals.
And there was one player in Eberechi Eze who Tottenham missed out on as Crystal Palace had a release clause included in his contract.

What Crystal Palace could do with Eberechi Eze next summer
Eze was able to get off the mark in the Premier League over the weekend with a stunning goal against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.
Going into this season, Eze still has three years remaining on his deal but the pressure may be on Palace next summer as he enters his final two years.
And it seems as if the Eagles’ stance on his release clause could soon change over the coming months.
According to Sami Mokbel, Eze’s release clause of £60m + £8m in add-ons will be reactivated next summer for clubs to trigger.
However, there may be some movement when it comes to Palace’s stance on the matter.
The Daily Mail journalist has claimed there could be some willingness to negotiate on Palace’s behalf as they could look to allow Eze to reach his ambitions.
This comes following a summer where Palace also lost Michael Olise in what was a considerable departure from Selhurst Park.
Tottenham could upgrade James Maddison with Eberechi Eze
Three games into the season and James Maddison is still looking a way off the pace when it comes to the form he has previously shown for Spurs.
Maddison was criticised by Roy Keane following Tottenham’s defeat to Newcastle United on the weekend after a disappointing display.
2023/24 | Eberechi Eze | James Maddison |
Goals | 11 | 4 |
Assists | 4 | 9 |
Dribble attempts (success %) | 140 (49.3%) | 81 (39.5%) |
Shot-creating actions, per 90 | 4.82 | 6.79 |
When Eze was linked with Spurs over the summer, there will have been questions as to where he would play alongside Maddison.
However, it could be becoming apparent that Eze may well be a better fit for Postecoglou’s system than the former England international.
