What Bayer Leverkusen now expect Liverpool to do after rejecting new £113m bid as problem arises
Liverpool are still negotiating with Bayer Leverkusen over the signing of Florian Wirtz.
The Reds have already succeeded in taking a player from the Bundesliga outfit this summer, after Liverpool signed Jeremie Frimpong in a £29.5m move.
However, the Dutchman had a release clause, whereas talks over the Germany international are more complex, given the fact there is no fixed fee already in place for his departure.
Liverpool have now seen a new £113m bid rejected for Florian Wirtz – according to – and the view of Bayer Leverkusen has been shared too.
Bayer Leverkusen expect another offer from Liverpool
The Times claim that Bayer Leverkusen are not expecting Liverpool to walk away after seeing a bid of £113m turned down, but a compromise must be found.
Richard Hughes – Director of Football at Anfield – is unwilling to meet the £126m asking price for Wirtz, although Bayer Leverkusen remain committed to squeezing as much money out of Liverpool as possible, and have no plans to lower the price tag as things stand.

It strongly suggests talks could now hit a roadblock, although the Bayer Leverkusen No.10 remains keen to join Liverpool, and The Times state the overall expectation is that the German moves to Anfield eventually, despite the current gap in valuation.
Liverpool’s latest offer was a guaranteed £100m with the remaining £13m in additional payments, which would have made Wirtz the new club-record signing at Anfield.
Why Liverpool ignored Rayan Cherki deal
Liverpool were also keen to sign Rayan Cherki from Lyon – according to The Times.

However, the Reds abandoned that interest after learning Wirtz actually preferred a move to Anfield instead of Bayern Munich or Manchester City.
Manchester City are now close to signing Cherki, which suggests the Citizens are having to settle for their backup option as Pep Guardiola aims to inject some more creativity into his attack.
