What Barcelona are telling Man City to do quickly in deal to sign Ilkay Gundogan
- EXCLUSIVE from Graeme Bailey
TBR Football understands that Barcelona are pushing Manchester City to complete their deal for Ilkay Gundogan.
The reigning Premier League champions are set to bring the 33-year-old midfielder back to the Etihad Stadium just a year after he left to join Barcelona.
Sources have confirmed that an agreement is now in place between Barcelona and Manchester City with Ilkay Gundogan also open to the return.
They have agreed an initial one-year deal with an option to extend his stay.
Gundogan started exploring his options this summer with his camp after Barcelona made it clear that he could leave.
City pounced on the opportunity and Pep Guardiola gave the green light for Gundogan to return to City – where he previously spent seven years.

Barcelona tell Man City to hurry
An agreement is in place but Barcelona are growing impatient that the deal has not been finalised.
Barcelona have still not been able to register star signing Dani Olmo to their squad because they first need to clear Gundogan’s wages off their books.
The La Liga giants have made it clear to City that they have done their part by allowing Gundogan to leave on a free – they are now urging the English champions to accelerate the deal being finalised.

They are desperate for the situation to not drag on and would ideally like it to be done before the weekend.
Barcelona spent £47million to sign Olmo from Red Bull Leipzig after the 26-year-old starred for Spain at Euro 2024 over the summer.
