What Aston Villa directly told Arsenal and Chelsea after they enquired about signing Morgan Rogers

TBR Football can exclusively reveal Aston Villa’s stance on selling Morgan Rogers after enquiries from Arsenal and Chelsea recently.

The Englishman was one of the best players of his age in the Premier League last season, and his performances have attracted a ton of interest.

However, Aston Villa do not want to let him go this summer.

What Aston Villa told Arsenal and Chelsea when they enquired about Morgan Rogers

TBR Football’s chief correspondent, Graeme Bailey, understands that Aston Villa remain insistent over Morgan Rogers and his future.

Rogers enjoyed a spectacular campaign with Villa, and he has emerged as one of the top young attacking midfielders in Europe.

As TBR Football previously revealed, Arsenal and Chelsea are both keeping very close tabs on his situation. We can now confirm that enquiries were made by the two London clubs in recent weeks.

However, we are told that Villa have made it clear that Rogers is not available and that they do not need to sell him because of any PSR worries.

Sources have informed TBR Football that Aston Villa value Rogers at over £100 million. They would demand more than the fee they received for Jack Grealish when he joined Manchester City in 2021, if they were to entertain a sale.

Liverpool are also huge admirers of Rogers and did consider him as an option this summer, before they moved on with their interest in Florian Wirtz. We can also confirm that his former club, Manchester City, have also been keeping close tabs on his progress.

For his part, Rogers is happy at Villa under Unai Emery and is not believed to be in a huge hurry to leave the club.

Morgan Rogers’ 2024/25 stats compared to Jack Grealish’s final season at Aston Villa

Many view Grealish as Aston Villa’s best player over the last decade.

The Englishman was absolutely incredible for the Villans during his time there, and his performances in his final season at Villa Park convinced Manchester City to splash £100 million to sign him.

But how do Rogers’ numbers last season compare to those of Grealish in his final year at the club?

Morgan Rogers in 2024/25541415155.03
Jack Grealish in 2020/2127712119.73

In terms of minutes-per-goal-involvement, Grealish had a better final season at Villa than Rogers did last term, but the fact that the latter is still only 22 makes him more valuable.

That’s why Villa will demand a club-record fee in the event of a sale, but as things stand, the message from Emery’s side is loud and clear – Rogers will not be allowed to leave.
