What Ashley Phillips’ relationship with Ange Postecoglou is really like after he’s sent out on loan
Having joined Tottenham Hotspur in the summer, Ange Postecoglou decided to send Ashley Phillips out on loan in January.
Phillips was eventually joined by Alfie Devine at Plymouth Argyle in the Championship, where both are making a big impression.

The duo, who were actually dropped on the weekend, have otherwise been stalwarts in the side since arriving, proving they can handle senior football in a tough league.
And Phillips in particular has been ‘excellent’ at times, according to his new manager Ian Foster.
It’s clear that the 18-year-old does have a big future ahead of him, and he should go on to be a regular starter for Spurs.
And that being said, have just shared a report detailing how Phillips initially settled at Hotspur Way among other things.
The report stated that Eric Dier, Son Heung-min and James Maddison have all gone out of their way to make Phillips welcome in North London, as did Harry Kane before he left.
But perhaps even more interesting for Tottenham fans, is the strong relationship Phillips is said to have with Postecoglou.
Ange Postecoglou is the manager to get the most out of Ashley Phillips at Tottenham
According to the report, all is very harmonious between player and manager, a relationship which bodes well for the future.
Having only played eight senior games for Blackburn Rovers before signing for Tottenham, it seems a good idea that Postecoglou chose to send Phillips out on loan.

The centre-back needed better experience under his belt, perhaps the reason he was never chosen ahead of Eric Dier when Cristian Romero was missing.
But with Lucas Bergvall arriving in the summer, who’s been impressing in Sweden, Phillips should also return better prepared for the new season.
Moreover, in addition to those young players, Tottenham fans must be imagining that the club will also welcome a host of new signings, after all, the side is thought to be in a strong financial position.
And with that in mind, it will be interesting to see what the future holds for a defender who should return from injury ready for the new season.
