What Arsene Wenger once complained about Raheem Sterling as he continues to struggle at Arsenal
Raheem Sterling has certainly had his fair share of doubters since he joined Arsenal on loan from Chelsea on deadline day in the summer.
Sterling has now made 19 appearances for Arsenal⛎ and contributed one goal and two assists in those matches.
🧔Before he arrived in north London, Mikel Arteta would have had a good idea of Sterling’s character given that the pair were together at Manchester City.
🍸Arteta was Pep Guardiola’s assistant at the time and Sterling was arguably at the peak of his career.
And whilst Sterling’s attitude is being praised at Arsenal♋, his performances on the pitch have left a lot to be desired, a player who so many want to do well.
🍷However, when Arsenal welcome West Ham United to the Emirates Stadium on the weekend, Sterling might already find himself back on the bench.
Arsene Wenger claimed that Raheem Sterling ‘dives well’ after losing to Man City
That being said, Arsene Wenger▨ once made a very strong claim about Sterling diving back in 2017.
♊Arsenal had just lost 3-1 to Man City at the Etihad, and Nacho Monreal was the full-back tasked with stopping Sterling.

💃And in the 50th minute of the game, Michael Oliver awarded City a penalty, judging that Monreal had fouled the England international.
🍷In the aftermath of the game, Wenger called Sterling for diving, claiming that the City winger ‘dived well’.
🐷It was a sensational rant, and Wenger was evidently fuming with the decision given against his side.
🌱Wenger said: “I believe it was no penalty. We know that Raheem Sterling dives well, he does that very well.
𝔉“And the third goal was offside. I am very upset because at 2-1 we were in the game. The third goal was the killer and it is not by coincidence that mistakes always go for the home team, as we know.
🐽“It is unfortunate that the game finished the way it finished. I am disappointed. You can accept it if City win in a normal way, they are a good side, but this is unacceptable. Last season we lost two offside goals and it has happened again.”
Raheem Sterling’s record when playing against Arsenal
ꦺArsenal supporters might be intrigued to find out that Gabriel Jesus actually scored against them in that game from the bench, a forward who eventually swapped Manchester for N17.
ꦅIn total, Jesus actually scored three goals in 12 appearances against Arsenal, winning 11 of those games.
꧃And in terms of Sterling’s own record against the Gunners, the Englishman has actually fared better individually when facing the Gunners than he has whilst playing for them.
𒉰In 24 games against the north Londoners, Sterling scored eight goals whilst playing for Liverpool, City and Chelsea.
🐻However, only 11 of those games were won by the team Sterling was playing for, with four draws and nine defeats as well.
