What Arsenal sources are saying about ‘special’ player joining Premier League rival

Arsenal sources are reportedly indicating whether or not an Emirates Stadium player will be joining a Premier League rival this summer.

The Gunners have cranked up their activity in the transfer market in a big way this week after the announcement of Riccardo Calafiori, with Mikel Merino agreeing personal terms with Arsenal as Emile Smith Rowe has completed his medical to join Fulham.

With Eddie Nketiah also nearing a move to Olympique Marseille, the north London side are set to rake in quite a large amount of pure profit from the transfer market given how many homegrown players are set to leave this summer.

Yet one Arsenal academy graduate could be staying put for the time being.

Arsenal and Leicester City failing to advance on Reiss Nelson transfer

According to , Arsenal and Leicester City are yet to go any further in talks over Reiss Nelson, with the Foxes keen on signing the 24-year-old winger, though the price tag is proving to be a sticking point for the Premier League side.

Praised by Mikel Arteta via as a ‘special’ player, Nelson has been rumoured with an exit from north London for the majority of the summer transfer window, with the forward hardly featuring for Arsenal last season.

With Leicester interested, Steve Cooper’s side could have been a dream destination for the former England youth international given how ideal the King Power Stadium is for a player in Nelson’s position.

Yet after this update, the chances of Nelson moving to Leicester now feel slim, with the winger potentially staying at Arsenal for the rest of the summer unless a last-minute move been agreed.

Arsenal need to keep working on trying to sell Nelson

Nelson has arguably stayed on Arsenal’s books for a year too many, with the forward dropping down to a bit-part player last season as the quality in Arteta’s squad once again jumped another level.

And this summer, Arsenal simply have to do all they can to offload Nelson, who at 24-years-old needs a move if he’s to kickstart his career and to reach his potential that could still. make the winger a Premier League star.

Whilst Leicester might not be on, other teams in the division should be all over Nelson, and if Arsenal are willing to negotiate, offloading the former Hale End wonderkid could be an easy process for the north London side.
