What Archie Gray has said about Tottenham and Leeds fans after making £40m summer move
Archie Gray has made his move to Tottenham Hotspur after an agreement was struck between Leeds United and the north London club.
The Englishman joins Tottenham in a deal believed to be worth in total with Joe Rodon also returning to Leeds.
Gray marks the first of Tottenham’s summer signings with Timo Werner the only other player to arrive at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on another loan deal.
It is just another example of the direction which Spurs are looking to take under Ange Postecoglou with a host of young prospects embedded into his squad.
The move will be a considerable step up for Gray who has only played in the Championship with Leeds so far.
But the 18-year-old is taking comfort in one similarity he feels there is between the two clubs.

Spurs have been keen to land some of Europe’s most promising young talents in the recent transfer windows as they plan for the club’s long-term future.
And the north London club have certainly acquired a solid base of youngsters which make up their current squad.
Ranging from first team starters like Micky van de Ven to prospects like Jamie Donley, Spurs have some serious options still 23-years-old or younger.
Gray will add to this cohort of players with the 18-year-old providing Tottenham with a versatile option for many years to come.
The former Leeds midfielder has now been speaking with the club’s media team and has admitted playing for a strong fan base is something which was really important to him.
Obviously that [good fans] was massive at Leeds. This club’s got the same thing going on with the fans and that’s really important for me,” he said.
“I want to create a strong bond with the fans and with the club, so I’m just really looking forward to that.”
Archie Gray turned down Brentford to join Tottenham
A deal was reportedly agreed between Leeds and Brentford for Gray over the weekend with the youngster set to make his move to London.
However, the plug was pulled on that move as Daniel Levy made his move to hijack the deal.
The calibre of the two clubs cannot really be compared with Spurs able to offer Gray regular European football going off their record over the last decade.
And that is something which was apparent when the 18-year-old spoke to the club after making the move.
“When Spurs came and I had the opportunity to play in the Champions League eventually and Europa League this year I couldn’t really say no,” he added.
