What Antonio Conte has said about Tottenham manager target Luciano Spalletti

Tottenham are reportedly leading the race to appoint Luciano Spalletti as their new manager, and Antonio Conte has already delivered his verdict on him.

Spurs let Conte leave over a month ago, and they are still yet to replace him. Cristian Stellini was given an opportunity, but he barely lasted a month, and Ryan Mason has had to step in now until the summer.

Among all the names linked with the Tottenham job, Napoli’s Luciano Spalletti is the latest, and Conte is a big fan of the 64-year-old.

Luciano Spalletti has suddenly emerged as one of Tottenham’s top manager targets.

Italian journalist Paolo Bargiggia claimed this week that Spurs have made a big offer to the Italian, while another report from Italy revealed that Daniel Levy’s side are in ‘pole position‘ to get their man in the coming weeks.

Spalletti is a hugely experienced manager and he has just won the Serie A in Italy. There’s a chance he could leave Napoli this summer, and Spurs could end up being his next destination.

Conte, who Tottenham fans know very well, appears to be a big fan of Spalletti.

He said about the 64-year-old back in 2017, as quoted by : “I think the Nerazzurri have taken one of the best coaches in the market.

“Luciano is a friend and a great manager: having him at Inter is an added value. I have seen that owners are very solid and are trying to build something important for the present and for the future, that’s why I’m happy for Luciano.”

TBR View:

Conte really did wish Spalletti well when he first became the Inter Milan manager. The latter spent two seasons there and was then sacked at the end of the 2018/19 season.

Guess who replaced him at Inter? Yep, you’re right, it was Conte.

Now, four years later, Spalletti could end up replacing Conte at Tottenham Hotspur. Football really is a funny game, isn’t it?

It will be interesting to see what will happen with Tottenham and Spelletti this summer.
