What Ange Postecoglou thinks of Yang Min-hyeok at Tottenham after leaving £3.4m signing out twice

Ange Postecoglou is yet to use Yang Min-hyeok since his arrival from Gangwon FC.

Tottenham paid (£3.4m) to sign the South Korean wonderkid back in July, with the 18-year-old seeing out the K League season before arriving at Hotspur Way to link up with Spurs towards the end of December.

With so many attackers out injured at the moment, such as Timo Werner, Dominic Solanke, Brennan Johnson and Wilson Odobert, some might have expected Ange Postecoglou to hand the teenager a swift debut.

However, the Australian is yet to use Yang Min-hyeok at Tottenham, leaving the Gwangju-born wonderkid on the bench for the recent 1-0 Carabao Cup win over Liverpool and the 3-2 defeat at Everton in Premier League action.

Now, have provided some insight regarding how close the youngster is to making his Spurs debut.

Yang Min-hyeok still a long way off from making Tottenham debut

Alasdair Gold has now shared how Postecoglou views the £3.4m wonderkid.

It is said that Yang “appears to be a long way” off being ready to contribute at Tottenham, having only made 38 senior appearances in his career so far.

In those outings – however – the South Korea U17 international has impressively scored 12 goals and provided six assists, which is a decent return for someone so young.

Ange Postecoglou should give Yang Min-hyeok a chance at Spurs

The 59-year-old keeps reiterating the fact his Tottenham side have been ravaged by injuries, so why not throw Yang into the mix to see if he shines?

Mikey Moore – who impressed Tottenham fans with his effective cameo against Everton – is younger than Yang at the age of 17, but has still managed to be one of the bright spots of this otherwise dismal 2024/25 campaign.

Therefore, Postecoglou shouldn’t have any reservations about using Yang – who Spurs think could eventually be worth millions – as he is actually far more experienced than Moore, and can also play in three different positions.

The South Korean has made 12 appearances on the left throughout his career, 24 on the right and even one appearance as a centre-forward, so if Tottenham cannot find a space for him amidst this current injury crisis, who knows when he will receive an opportunity.
