What Ange Postecoglou has just said about Micky van de Ven’s injury after Tottenham v Aston Villa

Tottenham manager Ange Postecoglou has given an immediate update on the injury suffered by Micky van de Ven at Aston Villa today.

Van de Ven was taken off early in the second half as he went down in a heap against Villa to give Tottenham fans cause for concern on another otherwise brilliant day at the office.

The Dutch defender has been superb all season long and kept the likes of Ollie Watkins quiet today before going down injured.

However, his hamstring injury earlier in the season is a constant worry for Spurs fans in terms of reoccurrence and Tottenham fans were worried about the defender.

But according to journalist , Ange Postecoglou has just confirmed after the game that he is hoping Van de Ven’s latest injury is nothing too significant.

Taking to X to share the update, Barclay posted the following from Ange.

Van de Ven injury is a concern for Tottenham

While the update here from Postecoglou will be pleasing for Spurs fans initially, there is still an element of worry here as well.

They simply cannot be without their top players for a period of time and the club will be praying this is nothing more than just something minor for Van de Ven.

Obviously, we now have a decent break due to the international football and that could end up being a blessing for Tottenham, in terms of timing.

We saw earlier in the season how Tottenham struggled without Romero and Van de Ven in tandem so it’s vital that they have both available for the run in.

Today’s win at Villa felt huge for Tottenham and before going off, Van de Van was vital in their efforts.

Any sort of injury over a few weeks, then, will be a concern for everyone at the club.
