What Ange Postecoglou did to Eric Dier right after Chelsea missed a massive chance at 1-1
Ange Postecoglou reportedly called Eric Dier over to reinforce his desire for Tottenham Hotspur to continue playing a high defensive line right after Chelsea missed a massive chance last night.
That’s according to , with the outlet sharing what Ange Postecoglou was spotted doing with Eric Dier after the moment in the second half.
Tottenham played the majority of last night’s 4-1 defeat against Chelsea with fewer players due to Cristian Romero and Destiny Udogie both being shown red cards.
The Argentine defender was sent off in the 33rd minute after a rash tackle of his compatriot Enzo Fernandez.
Udogie was then sent off for a second yellow card just 10 minutes after half-time but Spurs managed to keep the score at 1-1 right up until the 75th minute.
That was largely down to Guglielmo Vicario’s incredible display between the sticks as Spurs continued with their high defensive line.
This led to several chances for Chelsea, with Marc Cucurella being denied in a 1v1 situation by Vicario.
And after the wasted opportunity, it seems that Postecoglou doubled down on his approach.

What Postecoglou did to Dier after wasted Chelsea chance
The Athletic reports that Postecoglou spoke to both Dier and Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg right after the Cucurella wasted opportunity.
It’s noted the Aussie boss called both players over to reiterate his desire for them to keep pushing up to the halfway line as a centre-back duo.
It was certainly a bold move for Postecoglou to continue with a high line after seeing his side reduced to nine men.

When you consider the fact that Spurs had lost three of their fastest defenders in Udogie, Romero and Micky van de Ven, it becomes even more bizarre.
Yet, Postecoglou has shown he will stick to his way of playing football regardless of the opposition or if his side is playing a man down.
It ultimately led to Chelsea netting three goals last night but it’s important to note that Tottenham did have chances to level the game up before a quickfire Nicolas Jackson double in stoppage time.
