What Ange Postecoglou did on deadline day which has convinced Mathys Tel to sign for Tottenham

Tottenham Hotspur have seemingly had no plans to rest on their laurels during the ongoing transfer window — with Mathys Tel’s imminent move to Spurs indicating they always had a plan in place.

Tel has jetted off to sign for Tottenham on loan to become their third signing of the window joining Antonin Kinsky as well as Kevin Danso who has also signed on a temporary basis from RC Lens.

Just recently, Tel rejected a move to Spurs as he was left unconvinced by their project.

But Fabrizio Romano rightly described Tel’s future at Bayern Munich as a “crazy situation” as he is now ov the verge of heading to the Lilywhites.

Mathys Tel is one of Europe’s best young strikers and for Tottenham to be close to signing him on loan is an incredible coup.

Ange Postecoglou “convinced” Mathys Tel to sign for Tottenham on loan

Bayern told Arsenal to bid for Tel, who were also very interested in his signature.

So much so that joining Arsenal was deemed Tel’s only option if he was indeed keen on leaving Bayern.

But now, the Frenchman has decided to sign for Tottenham on loan and according to journalist Julien Laurens, it is all down to Ange Postecoglou persuading him to do so.

“Ange Postecoglou spoke with Mathys Tel at length earlier today and convinced him to come to Tottenham. Huge role played by the Spurs manager to get one of the most coveted youngsters in Europe!”

Recently, Tottenham had agreed a move for Tel, which made his decision to reject them a perplexing one in the first place. But Tottenham always made Tel their priority and with Ange Postecoglou known for having the gift of the gab, they seem to have won the race to secure the 19-year-old’s services.

Mathys Tel has taken Harry Kane’s advice as he nears Tottenham loan move

After Bayern beat Holsten Kiel 4-3 on Friday, Harry Kane advised Tel to prioritise playing time if he does end up leaving the Allianz Arena.

“Mathys is a great young player. I have worked with him for 18 months now. He has a lot of potential, works and likes to train hard. He can still improve but he has the right mindset to do so. Whatever his next step is, the most important thing is that he plays.”

“My advice is that wherever he goes now, he should make sure he gets playing time and experience.”

With Dominic Solanke ruled out with an injury for weeks, Tel seems guaranteed to play regular football in a Tottenham shirt seeming listening to Kane’s wise words.

The Bayern Munich youngster could make his debut for Spurs in as high profile a game as possible against Liverpool in the second leg of the Carabao Cup semi-final.
